Sports Stadium FAQ

Sports Stadium questions Aurora gets asked most

What is stadium signage?
Stadium signage covers every LED display application inside and around a sports venue: perimeter ribbon boards that follow the field boundary, centre-hung scoreboards visible from all stands, concourse wayfinding panels that move crowds efficiently, entry-portal videowalls that set the atmosphere on arrival, and broadcast-facing screens where camera-readiness matters. Each application has different brightness, pixel pitch, IP rating and structural requirements.
How much does stadium signage cost in Australia?
Stadium LED signage projects in Australia typically range from $80,000 for a single scoreboard installation to over $2 million for a full-venue fit-out covering perimeter ribbon, centre-hung screen, concourse panels and entry videowalls. The primary cost drivers are total pixel count, pixel pitch, structural engineering, IP rating, and installation complexity. Aurora provides fixed-price quotes after a site survey — contact the team for a project-specific estimate.
What pixel pitch is recommended for stadium LED screens?
Pixel pitch selection depends on the minimum viewing distance. For perimeter ribbon boards viewed from 20–80 m, P6–P10 is standard. For centre-hung scoreboards at 30–100 m viewing distance, P6–P8 is typical. For concourse wayfinding panels at 3–15 m, P2.9–P4 delivers readable text and graphics. Aurora's ScreenBuilder configurator calculates the optimal pitch for your venue geometry automatically.
What standards must stadium signage meet in Australia?
LED displays installed in Australian sports venues must carry the RCM (Regulatory Compliance Mark) to AS/NZS 62368 (electrical safety) and comply with AS/NZS CISPR 32 (EMC emissions). Outdoor structures must be wind-load certified to AS/NZS 1170.2. For broadcast-facing applications, screens must achieve refresh rates above 3,840 Hz to eliminate scan-line banding on camera. All Aurora stadium cabinets are supplied with full RCM documentation for procurement and venue compliance teams.
How are centre-hung quad-sided screens engineered?
Centre-hung screens are flown from purpose-engineered structural rigging, with redundant power and signal so the wall stays live if a single feed drops. We work with the stadium's structural engineers from the design stage and certify the install before handover.
